South West Hertfordshire Music Aptitude Test

How Scoring Works
Marking System
The Music Aptitude Test is marked objectively with points awarded for each correct answer. There is typically no negative marking, so it's always worth attempting every question.
Rank Order
Students are ranked by their total MAT score. Each school has a set number of music criterion places (typically 6-12 places). The highest scorers receive offers, subject to meeting the minimum academic threshold.
Academic Threshold
Students must achieve a minimum score in the academic entrance exam (usually around 80-85% or standardized score of 110-115) to be eligible for a music criterion place, regardless of MAT performance.
